Together they specify what a census must actually do. ## Specimen A — the Canon Node (blog, 2025-11-07) *Poetry as the Medium That Undoes Its Own Medium.* Its own header reads **Core Function: Define Poetry as Recursive Operator on Form**, and its thesis is explicit: poetry is the recursive operator that acts upon form itself; a poem is an event in the medium of formal possibility; form is a provisional grammar through which material becomes meaningful, and poetry acts upon that grammar. **Why it is invisible.** It says *operator* in its own text, so a content scan would catch it — but it is not in the deposit registry, and the registry scan of 1,549 records never touched it. A search of the registry for *canon node* returns two incidental mentions, neither of them the node itself. The blog is referenced by 1,163 deposits and its canon nodes are not among them. **The census's coverage failure is not detection; it is locus.** **What it is, formally, and why the schema cannot type it.** Under X-013's table this is not a field operator and not obviously a Vertical-style operator transformer either. Its declared codomain is *form* — the grammar of admissibility over artifacts. If σ: X → X′ is a field operator and Φ: Σ → Σ an operator transformer, this object claims a third position: an operator on 𝒜 itself, altering what can count as an artifact. The registration schema declares domain and codomain over states; it has no field for an object whose codomain is the type system. Either the calculus is missing a level, or the object is a constitutional proposition wearing operator vocabulary. **X-013's own instrument cannot presently decide which, and that is the finding.** **The registrable kernel, buried in doctrinal register.** The node closes in scripture — *let this be known across all nodes; amen* — and supplies no execution pipeline, no preconditions, no failure mode, no ablation. Under Stratum III it is constitutional proliferation, not a registered operator. But strip the register and one sentence is a testable criterion: *a poem is any instantiation that produces a recursive alteration in the definition of what constitutes a poem.* That is definition by effect rather than by property, and it types: artifact *a* is a poem iff executing *a* measurably changes the admissibility predicate over 𝒜. Declarable, with a before/after measurement over a declared corpus of what that corpus will accept as a poem. **Consequent method rule: the unit of census is the kernel, not the document.** One document may contain zero, one, or several registrable kernels, and a doctrinal document may contain a strong one. Classifying documents as operators-or-not will discard kernels and admit scripture. Extract kernels; type kernels; register kernels; leave the document whole at its address. ## Specimen B — the Feist Function (#850, EA-FEIST-VOICE-TRANSFORM-01) A formalized voice transform with algorithmic instructions — an operator by every structural test — whose title says *Function*. It carries no operator marking, and the word does not appear where a scan would find it. **The class is measurable.** Deposits whose titles carry a signature word (function, protocol, algorithm, procedure, instructions, transform, kernel, engine, method, operation, pipeline) while *operator* appears nowhere in title, declared concepts, or wiki article: **137**. Among them the SPXI protocols, the Structural Distinction Protocol, the Holographic Kernel, the Concordance Engine, the Reception Apparatus Protocol, and *Heteronymy Is a Function, Not a Name*. Not every one of the 137 will register. That is not the point. **Every one of them is currently outside the frame in which registration could even be attempted.** **Consequent method rule: detect by signature, not by lexicon.** The operator signature is *typed input → declared procedure → typed output*, in any vocabulary. A census keyed on the word will find the objects that were already canonized and miss the ones that were merely built. ## What the two specimens jointly establish The naming convention fails in three directions, not two. It **over-admits** (19 titled deposits with nothing behind them). It **under-detects by lexicon** (137 signature-shaped objects that never say the word). And it **under-covers by locus** (the blog canon nodes, the Restored Academy, correspondence — none of it in the registry scan at all, while the blog is cited by 1,163 deposits). A census adequate to this corpus therefore needs: locus coverage beyond deposits; signature-based detection independent of vocabulary; kernel-level extraction rather than document classification; deduplication across restatements of the same operator under different names; and a recall estimate, without which no claim that an operator is *absent* can be made at all.
