# X-038 · Path-dependent identity as a structural limit

Node-labeled graphs cannot represent path-dependent identity, and this is a limit of the abstraction rather than a patchable bug. Solutions require edge-labeled graphs (path in identity), temporal graphs (identity over time), or multi-layer graphs (path per layer) — none standard in commercial retrieval. The bifurcated node is a permanent structural blind spot, and the apophatic packet is a workaround that exploits it by forcing the sense-split the representation cannot hold.
