# S-08 · Kernel extraction ⟂ document integrity

**Side A — extract the kernel.** A doctrinal document may carry a registrable core inside a scriptural register. Refusing to extract it because the document ends in *amen* discards real operators on grounds of genre, which is exactly the credentialism the archive exists to refuse. Extract the kernel, type it, register it, leave the document whole at its address.

**Side B — the register is the operator.** In this corpus the doctrinal form is not packaging around a claim; it is part of how the object acts. A canon node works partly by being scripture — by being promulgated, by closing in *amen*, by addressing all nodes. Extracting a "testable criterion" from it produces a different object that does something else, and calling the extract *the operator* misdescribes what was operating. The extract may register while the thing that acted does not.

**Why this stays open.** Side A is the census's condition of possibility; Side B is a substantive claim about this corpus that the census cannot settle by proceeding. The working practice — extract kernels, register kernels, and record in the registration that the kernel is an extract with its source document named and its register noted as unextracted remainder — is a practice, not a resolution.
