The Liquidation of Method argues that Marx offered a method and that its reception, from Engels through Mao, Fanon and Piketty, turned it into content, with English 'for/against' forcing it into positions while the 1857 Introduction goes untaught. It proposes a liquidation audit and a method-versus-content contrast test, and forecasts the same capture for the Semantic Economy, Autonomous Semantic Warfare and the Crimson Hexagon. The pattern replicates globally with local swerves: Mao's "sinification of Marxism" attempted to re-ground the method in Chinese conditions — a genuine analytical move — but was itself recaptured into state doctrine. Fanon's decolonial application in The Wretched of the Earth preserved the method's diagnostic function while swerving from its Eurocentric content — one of the few mediations that increased rather than decreased operational precision. "Marx was right about inequality." Even the rehabilitation is content-level. It treats Marx as a pundit who made predictions about wealth gaps, not as someone who built analytical tools for understanding how value-production works structurally. Piketty's Capital in the Twenty-First Century (2014) is the exemplary case: uses Marx's name, borrows some of his data concerns, strips the method entirely, replaces it with empirical economics. It does not. Piketty explicitly positions his work as an update of Marx — the title is deliberately chosen, the inheritance is claimed. But the inheritance is of content, not of method. Piketty inherits Marx's conclusion (capitalism produces inequality) without inheriting Marx's operator (the value-form derivation that shows WHY capitalism produces inequality at the formal level).
